Continuation of development for KiberQuest.
So after a while of resting from the burnout of the development now I'm back at it. It has been a great feeling to upload a first iteration of my passion project for the website and marks this one as first in my portfolio of games.
So what has been going on?
Well for the most part I've been procrastinating and resting up from the burnout of development. Even though I had great amounts of fun, understand that this project is as well a learning project for me. Most of the code written in this is from diffirent Youtube tutorials. Ofcourse some things I modiefied and came up with myself to implement things the way I want them to be
Also my wife has been helping me out with some extra assets for the game. She can't wait to play the finished product. I will show some of her work a bit further down in the post.
What is new?
First of I would like to thank SimpDuck for giving me some feedback on what I could improve on the game. It really helps to hear from other more experienced devs on what could be done better in the game. And more feedback from you SimpDuck and others is always welcome.
So I've been working on implementing some enemies. It has been quite some work to implement even the first enemy but I managed to get the base logic in. What I want is for the game to have a simple combat system very much like in the Mario games minus the throwing balls mechanic. So in other words "You jump on somethings head and it dies or loses health" and "If it touches you, you lose health"
For now there is a pig implemented almost completely. I will update some things once there will be levels with larger "plains" platforms to make them rush the player. And at the moment I'm working on a bird that will only move and once it touches the player the player loses health. And the player can kill it by landing on the birds health.
My wife has been working on some new assets which are very cute in my opinion. One could say that at this point even though this game is also dedicated to her, it has kind of become our project.
Here is one of the assets.
The future.
I will be publishing the next version when I will feel ready for it. Probably when most of the enemies have been implemented and a couple of levels have been done. Also even though this game is free for you to play. I will in the future releases add the option to donate. At the moment I'm still looking for work and I hope that soon I will be able to find something as a game developer. For now I'm still learning and some extra income would be great. For now there is no option for it though.
I hope that you will write some feedback and follow this project. I'm very excited for this and I can't wait to publish the next update and in the end finish this project. But in the meantime be sure to download the game, try it out and give some feedback :)
Peace \m/
